Garbage hauler sues city, seeks $6 million

Rizzo says lack of capacity hurt its business

Steve Pardo / The Detroit News

WARREN -- The city's trash hauling company is suing the city for more than $6 million over the condition of the city-owned waste transfer station and improvements the company said Warren has failed to make for years.

Rizzo Services was awarded a $12 million, seven-year contract in 2001. The contract calls for the Warren-based company to operate the transfer station where both residential garbage and collected yard waste is brought, separated and finally transferred to landfills and composting lots.
