Schwartz Law Firm Bringing a Civil Rights Claim

RELEASED: February 20, 2012

FARMINGTON HILLS, MICHIGAN -

Schwartz Law Firm has filed suit against the municipality of Warren, Michigan, and two Warren police officers for civil rights violations, false arrest and malicious prosecution in connection with an improper DWI stop and subsequent criminal charges. The suit is on behalf of Jeffrey Michael Schroder, a former assistant city attorney in Warren.

In February 2009, Schroder was arrested on drunk driving charges by the two Warren officers in an arrest that an expert witness said was full of improper procedures and factual discrepancies. Despite those problems, the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office pressed charges in March 2009. A jury needed only 15 minutes of deliberation to acquit Schroder of the charges in September 2009.
